The difference between glaucoma and cataracts is that they have one thing in common

What are the similarities between glaucoma and cataract?

Eye health can deteriorate for minor reasons, or lead to various eye diseases as you get older or for health reasons. I know more than anyone else that eyes are important, but I thought the problem was that they didn’t pay much attention to eye diseases that could lead to blindness. There are various problems, but eye diseases that can lead to blindness include glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy, so today let’s look at the difference between glaucoma and cataract.

The main organs in our eyes were the cornea, lens, and retina. Light coming in from the outside connects an accurate image to one point of the retina after passing through the cornea and lens, and if each organ is abnormal due to various causes, it becomes inconvenient to see. In order for us to see things straight, light had to connect an accurate image to a single retina and transmit visual elements to the brain through the role of the optic nerve. Glaucoma was a problem that damaged the optic nerve, which functions like a wire, causing vision loss and blindness. Glaucoma is largely divided into two categories: chronic and acute, which gradually destroys the optic nerve, causing vision loss and narrowing the viewing angle little by little, so it often hit me even when I was walking down the street. On the other hand, acute symptoms such as vision loss, headache and eye pain, dizziness, congestion, and misjudgment became noticeable due to sudden destruction of the optic nerve.

The difference between glaucoma and cataract was that glaucoma caused symptoms due to optic nerve abnormalities in the retina, and cataracts caused by lens abnormalities. The cause of glaucoma is genetic, but the high use of electronic devices in dark places could have been caused by increased intraocular pressure and myopia. Intraocular pressure was also the cause of glaucoma, which can speak and hear the pressure inside the eyeball. The current condition determines whether or not to undergo surgery, so we conducted various eye examinations including fundus examinations.

The difference between glaucoma and cataract was that the problematic areas were different. However, what they had in common was that they were one of the four major blindness eye diseases. Cataracts are caused by gray-white turbidity of the lens area in the eye, resulting in reduced vision, blurred vision, blurring of glare and light, color distortion, and diplopia. The causes are also divided into two categories: congenital and acquired, and acquired diseases include diabetes, eye trauma (crystalline lens rupture), drug abuse, and overexposure to ultraviolet rays. The already cloudy lens does not return to its original state, so it was removed and a new one was inserted.

I was able to clearly distinguish the difference between glaucoma and cataract. When you first have symptoms, you have to leave your condition unattended to come to the hospital if it gets worse, but if you leave it for a long time, it will be difficult to proceed with the surgery and your recovery will be delayed. Recently, I had to find various treatments and recover from them.
